A reader has asked me to post the following question:  What are some good ways to ask for a referral? What would you suggest?

What works best for me is to ask-and-offer in a reciprocal way. Most professionals welcome the opportunity to explore which clients/contacts might benefit from knowing you — as long as you offer to return the favor by introducing them to clients/prospects who might enjoy meeting them. The timing and fit have to be right. But when they are, everybody benefits.
